Born December 24, 1919 in Rodez, Pierre Soulages has made nearly 1 550 tables. Inventor in 1979 of "the outrenoir", an expression that marks a turning point in his career and his way of doing. His thinking is based on the surface States of the black and the light that it spread.
In 2005, Pierre Soulages gave to his hometown 500 works: husks of coconuts, etchings, serigraphs, preparatory work on the stained glass windows of the Abbey of Conques and a few outrenoirs. Furrows in the dark matter, nicks and reliefs create games of color and light. In 2009, the Pompidou Center has presented for its 90 the largest retrospective ever devoted to a living artist, more than 500,000 visitors who flocked.
BROUX OF NUTS
The series of prints to the Museum of Rodez are beautiful. Those now on the market reach several thousand euros. All techniques are represented: lithography, etching, silkscreen… Matrices used for the realization of some works are themselves presented to the public as full-fledged works.
